Charles De Gaulle, Francfort, Newark, New Jersey, New York City, Massachusetts, Boston

Et voilà une semaine que je suis arrivée aux Etats-Unis. 7 jours.

Tout a commencé le lundi 9 août, 9H15. 1H15 de vol entre CDG (France) et Francfort (Allemagne), 3H d'attente pour la correspondance puis 8H de vol entre Francfort (toujours en Allemagne) et Newark (USA, New Jersey).

Arrivée aux Etats-Unis à 15H30 heure locale, 21H30 heure française. 2H de queue pour faire valider mon visa. 18H30, je suis dans le taxi pour l'hôtel. 20H30 le discours de bienvenue est fini, je suis chambre 124.

Chambre partagée avec Julia, une suédoise et Jessica, une chinoise.

Mardi 10 août, 8H, début de la formation. Je suis a une table avec des Allemandes. Pas pour longtemps, je change de table pour ne pas être avec des au pair que je connais déjà.

1 Belge, 3 Allemandes, 1 Brésilienne, 1 Mexicaine et 1 Colombienne; voici la composition de ma nouvelle table. Ensemble nous avons créé notre drapeau, une étoile pour chaque nationalité dans le drapeau américain.

Chaque jour, une nouvelle idée pour nous permettre de rencontrer d'autres au pair. La couleur que l'on a sur notre enveloppe donnée le jour de notre arrivée, l'âge des enfants dont nous avons la charge, l'état dans lequel on va, notre mois de naissance,…

Mardi soir: le New York City Tour! Un petit groupe de quatre s'est formé; Anaïs, une française, Beatriz et Natalie, deux mexicaines et moi. Petit groupe qui se retrouvera aussi le lendemain pour du shopping dans un centre commercial à 20 minutes de l'hôtel.

Anaïs et moi nous sommes extasiées devant une boutique pour fabriquer son ours en peluche soi-même! Il nous est devenu impensable de ne pas repartir sans un ours fabriqué par nos soins! So American!

Et puis le jeudi après-midi est venu, il a fallu nous séparer… Beatriz et moi en route pour Newark, l'aéroport, Natalie et Anaïs, attendant leur famille à l'hôtel.

1H12 de vol jusqu'à Boston où Hannah m'attend à l'aéroport. Vite rejoint par sa maman, nous rentrons à la maison.

A week ago, I came to the United States. 7 days.

It all started on Monday, August the 9th, 9:15 am. 1H15 flight from CDG (France) and Frankfurt (Germany), 3H waiting for correspondence and 8H flight from Frankfurt (still Germany) and Newark (USA, New Jersey).

Arrival in the United States at 3:30 pm local time, 9:30 pm French time. 2H waiting to validate my visa. 6:30 pm, I'm in the taxi to the hotel. 8:30 pm, the welcome speech is over, I am in room 124.

Room shared with Julia, a Swedish girl and Jessica, a Chinese girl.

Tuesday, August the 10th, 8:00 am, begining of the training. I'm on a table with German girls. Not for long, I change the table in order to not be with somebody that I already know.

1 Belgian girl, 3 Germans girls, 1 Brazilian girl, 1 Mexican girl and 1 Colombian girl, there was the composition of my new table. Together we have created our flag, a star for each nationality in the American flag.

Every day a new idea to meet other au pairs. The color on the envelope given to us the day we arrived, the age of children in our care, the state where we going, our month of birth, ...

Tuesday evening: the New York City Tour! A small group of four was formed, Anais, a French, Beatriz and Natalie, two Mexican and me. Small group which will also feature the next day for shopping 20 minutes away from the hotel.

Anais and I were excited to see a shop to make her teddy bear ourselves! It has become unthinkable to not leave without a bear made by us! So American!

And then, Thursday afternoon came, he took us apart ... Beatriz and I to Newark Airport, Natalie and Anais, waiting their families at the hotel.

1H12 flight to Boston, where Hannah is waiting at the airport. Quickly joined by her mom, we're going home.
